The GEEIS reference framework is designed for all types of companies, regardless of their size, structure and activity, in all countries and on all continents. Keolis first obtained the GEEIS label in 2017. Full recertification takes place every four years, with a control audit after two years. This is now the third time in a row that Keolis Belgium has obtained the label, with an improvement in its score to 3 out of 4. This is in line with the objective of being the most attractive employer in the mobility sector in Belgium.
Katleen Saenen, HRBP for Flanders, oversaw the 2017 and 2021 certifications. "This is exceptional," explains Katleen. "Despite Keolis' complex economic and social context, we have achieved a better result. We can be very proud of this, especially as the GEEIS label is not very common, and certainly not in our sector."
Weeks of preparation
In practice, however, this diversity label is only achieved by large international companies. And that is not without reason. Christelle: "We had already started work on it in April because it is such a big project. On the day of the audit, 19 June, we gave a presentation of 200 slides, which took a whole day."
And, of course, their daily work continued as usual. "In all honesty, I was very stressed because it was the first time I had led this project. Katleen and I worked a lot of extra hours. That makes the satisfaction afterwards even greater. But above all, this achievement is thanks to the efforts of all our colleagues who work every day to create an inclusive company."
Diversity, multiculturalism and anti-discrimination
We have integrated a number of measures into our HR practices and communication. "I can see that Keolis is doing a great deal in the areas of diversity, multiculturalism and anti-discrimination." She sums up: "For example, although the proportion of women among drivers and mechanics is still limited, initiatives such as the Keolis Drivers Academy offer us the opportunity to make progress in terms of diversity. At the same time, we are seeing a growing percentage of women in white-collar and managerial positions."
In addition to paying equal pay for equal work, regardless of sex or gender, we are going one step further. "The communications team consistently interviews female colleagues at Keolis who play an important role in our internal and external communications. The same applies to multiculturalism, which we emphasise in all our communications. We have more than 50 nationalities at Keolis in Belgium. And the renewal of the diversity charter, signed by the members of the management committee, reaffirms Keolis' commitment to diversity and inclusion. We do a lot and we don't always think about it, but the GEEIS label recognises all these efforts," she concludes.
A verification audit will take place in 2027, and in 2029 we will be back in the starting blocks for a fourth certification.
